Southern Georgian Bay OPP is dedicating three officers to focus on traffic enforcement. The officers will be looking for drivers who are distracted either with cell phones or other devices, impaired drivers, those not wearing seatbelts and other infractions. One of the officers is trained on commercial driver enforcement and will be looking for equipment defects and non-compliance with commercial driving laws. The OPP is hoping that this will bring down the rate of accidents on highways within the area of the detachment.
