Found human remains near Barrie identified, now a homicide investigation

Huronia West OPP is reporting human remains found in Springwater Township are those of a missing Barrie woman who was murdered.

On Friday, police received the results from a post-mortem exam in Toronto, and found the remains to be of 30-year-old Jaimee Lee Miller, who was reported missing in early November.

Officials were not able to release the cause of Miller’s death, but are now treating the investigation as a homicide.

Miller’s remains were discovered on Wednesday in a portion of Simcoe County Forest.

Police are asking anyone with information on Miller’s disappearance to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers to leave an anonymous tip.
