Local Children’s Aid Society workers are looking for public support to get more government funding.
On Tuesday night, a group of child protection workers from Local 2049 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) were picketing outside of the Town of Parry Sound Municipal Office.  CUPE Local 2049 President Debbie Hill says across the Nipissing and Parry Sound districts there have been many cuts including the closure of the CAS office in Burk’s Falls.
Hill says they want to get the message out to local residents to gain their support.
Anyone wishing to express their concerns over the lack of funding for local child protection workers are encouraged to contact their MPP.
