The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples is calling for more action to protect Aboriginal women and girls from violence. National Chief Betty Ann Lavallee met with the Native Women’s Aboriginal Association of Canada, and other aboriginal groups to come up with a strategy to stop the violence. Lavallee says she doesn’t understand why more hasn’t been done to address this longstanding tragedy. This comes after the release of Invisible Women: A Call to Action, which is a Parliamentary Committee report on missing, murdered and abused indigenous women.
