Fire Danger Rating set to moderate

The Fire Danger rating in Parry Sound District is being set to moderate for the Labour Day long weekend.

That’s according to the West Parry Sound Fire Coordinator Brian Leduc.

A moderate rating means that campfires are allowed two hours before sundown until two hours after sunrise. Daytime burning is allowed with a permit for outdoor fire places.

The fire danger rating has not been set higher than moderate once this summer. Leduc says this can be attributed to higher than average rainfall, as well as rainfall at regular intervals.

The rating will be re-evaluated on Thursday September 7.
