More jobs and promoting growth is a top priority as Parry Sound Town Council creates the position of a full-time Economic Development Officer.
Councillors approved of the plan at the town council meeting held Tuesday night.
The move replaces the part-time contract position now held by Clayton Harris that expires April 6th of next year.
It also coincides with the retirement of Director of Development & Leisure Services, Lyn Middaugh set for May 11th.
Ms. Middaugh handles much of economic development for Parry Sound as well overseeing the Stockey Centre, BOCC, and Parks and Recreation.
Mayor Jamie McGarvey re-affirmed Councils’ commitment to jobs and growth for the town and surrounding area, by declaring that a full-time Economic Development Officer dedicated to stimulating growth, was the only way to make it happen.
