Doctors and the West Parry Sound Health Centre are coming together to establish a temporary clinic at the hospital.
In a statement from Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Terence Fargher and Donald Sanderson, Lakeland Long Term Care and West Parry Sound Health Centre CEO, doctors are coming together to provide non-urgent health care for Parry Sound area patients who recently lost their local doctor.
The move comes as the result of the death of popular Parry Sound physician, Dr. Rob Stevens, who died suddenly on Sunday December 10th.
Most of Dr. Steven’s patients are currently without a family doctor.
The first clinic is scheduled for Thursday, December 28th, between 8 am and noon, and in the afternoon between 1 and 5pm.
Depending on how many doctors are available, officials are planning to have the clinic open on Mondays and Fridays until patients have been re-assigned a new family doctor.
New patients can reach the clinic through WPSHC Emergency Department.
