A McDougall family escapes unharmed as fire ravages their Taylor sub-division home.
More than five people were believed to be in the house at the time of the fire.
Fire crews were called to 3 Burnside Bridge Road shortly before 8 am Tuesday morning, alerted by a family member reporting that a garage fire had spread to the rest of the home.
McDougall Fire Chief Brian Leduc says by the time crews got to the scene, the 2-storey house was engulfed in flames.
Although McDougall fire crews were first to respond, Chief Leduc says other fire departments became quickly involved.

Audio PlayerChief Leduc says that it was only through a system of tanker trucks that kept fire crews constantly supplied with water that allowed them to fight the blaze.

The initial cause of the fire is not known and is currently under investigation.
