UPDATE: WPSHC NON-URGENT CARE CLINIC OPEN TODAY

West Parry Sound Health Centre’s non-urgent care clinic will open again this morning at 9 am.

The temporary clinic will remain open until noon for local residents without a family doctor.

Health Centre CEO Donald Sanderson says because of limited staff, patients should get there early.

Sanderson also says new patients should bring a list of their medications and have their health cards ready.

The clinic is a direct result of the sudden death of Dr. Rob Stevens which left many families in the Parry Sound region without a family doctor.

The hospital along with medical professionals in the area are providing non-urgent medical care to families at the clinic.

Because of a shortage of doctors, Sanderson says the number of patients being registered per day is limited.

Patients for the clinic must come in through the Emergency entrance at the West Parry Sound Health Centre and should be prepared for long wait times.

Former patients of Dr. Stevens that have been referred to specialists for extra care are urged by the hospital to confirm with those doctors if their special care is continuing.

For upcoming dates and times go to the WPSHC website at www.wpshc.com.

As well, you can hear an updated recorded message at 705-746-4540 ext. 1321 or you can call the Health Centre’s main telephone number at 705-746-9321.
