NORM MILLER COMMENDS PARRY SOUND AREA MEDICAL COMMUNITY

Cooperation between the Parry Sound region’s medical community and its health centre is being commended by Norm Miller.

The Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP says he recognizes the efforts by local doctors and the West Parry Sound Health Centre to open a non-urgent care clinic to help patients without a family doctor.

The recent death of Dr. Rob Stevens has left many in the Parry Sound region without a family doctor.

Miller says while this is not a permanent solution, it’s a needed one.

The Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP hopes that the shortage of family doctors in the Parry Sound region may eventually be overcome as graduates of Sudbury’s and Thunder Bay’s Northern Ontario School of Medicine begin to practise medicine.

Another non-urgent care clinic is being held today at the West Parry Sound Health Centre between 9AM and 2PM.

Entrance is from the Emergency Department.

As well, you can hear an updated recorded message at 705-746-4540 ext. 1321 or you can call the health centre’s main telephone number at 705-746-9321.
