PARRY SOUND AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS COULD FACE SCHOOL SUSPENSION IF VACCINES NOT UP-TO-DATE

North Bay Parry Sound District Health wants all high school student vaccines up to date.

The health unit has begun its review of vaccination records of high school students in the Parry Sound region.

Letters were sent in December to students with incomplete records.

Students have until Tuesday, March 20 to provide the Health Unit with their updated vaccine records or face a school suspension.

Public Health Nurse with the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program Jessica Taus says parents have to make sure their kids’ vaccination records are complete.

The Health Unit will be offering vaccine clinics to all high schools in the Parry Sound region in February.

For parents that don’t wish their children to be vaccinated, Taus says there are certain steps parents have to follow.

Students who haven`t been vaccinated can still attend school under certain conditions.

Parents are reminded that even though their children’s’ vaccines may be up to date, their records may not be.

For more information about the vaccine program, go to My Health Unit – Vaccines or call the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit at 705-474-1400 or
