Rick Lund is the newest member of the Order of Parry Sound.
The history teacher at Parry Sound High School was presented with the town’s highest honour for achievement Sunday by Mayor Jamie McGarvey at the Mayor’s New Year’s Levee at the BOCC.
Celebrating 20 years at the high school, Mr Lund’s passion and commitment to remembering those that served in Canada’s military is described by the mayor.
Among his many field trips, Mr. Lund took 40 students to Vimy, France last year to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Lund talks about being with the students at the Memorial.
Mr. Lund also heads Parry Sound’s Banner Program honouring the region’s veterans.
