$1.3 MILLION APPROVED FOR STOCKEY CENTRE/BOBBY ORR HALL OF FAME ROOF REPLACEMENT

Roof replacement is to set roll for the Stockey Centre/Bobby Orr Hall of Fame.

Parry Sound Town Council at its special meeting Tuesday approved of the $1,277,000 plus HST project to replace the existing shingle roof with a steel one.

Improvements also call for new steel sidings.

The single-sourced contract for the job was awarded to Parry Sound contractor W.S. Morgan Construction Ltd.

Original plans for construction of the centre called for a steel roof but budgets constraints forced the installation of the less durable asphalt roof.

A grant application has been submitted to the Department of Canadian Heritage/Cultural Spaces Canada for partial funding of the project.

If approved and work is completed by March 31st, almost half the cost of the project would be recovered.

Work is set to begin immediately.
