Health Sciences North in Sudbury is currently dealing with multiple influenza outbreaks at the hospital.
HSN says they’re taking a number of steps to control the outbreaks including isolation procedures, heightened laboratory testing, and strict hand hygiene.
The hospital says it’s important that visitors take the following measures:
- Check in at the nursing station and follow hospital protocol including hand hygiene and the use of personal protection equipment.
- Do not visit anyone if you’re sick.
- If possible, have only one consistent person visit a patient.
- Try not to bring anyone under the age of 12.
- Do not travel room to room during a visit.
The hospital is advising that hand hygiene is the single most important way to prevent the spread of infection.
