It’s going to be all eyes on the big screen Thursday, February 15th in MacTier.
Hometown hero Chris Lee and the rest of the Olympic men’s hockey team will be facing off against Switzerland in Canada’s debut at the PyeongChang games.
A pancake breakfast at 6:30 am will be followed by the opening face-off at 7:10 am at the MacTier Arena and Community Centre.
The CBC has given the town live broadcast rights to the game making the event possible.
Georgian Bay Township Mayor Larry Braid along with Lee’s niece and nephew will officially kick things off with the ceremonial puck drop during the first intermission.
The Mayor also says the entire town is behind the local hockey star.
The breakfast is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for kids.
Through the support of Chris Lee, proceeds from the event will go to KidSport Georgian Bay, raising funds for families who can’t afford the registration and equipment costs of having their children play the game.
