Beware of Spam Text Circulating

Beware of a spam text message circulating Parry Sound.  Phone numbers beginning with (705) 773 are receiving false texts that appear to be from the Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts.

Shortly after midnight on Friday, a text message containing a link to a survey was allegedly sent by the Stockey Center.  The text asked recipients to respond to a survey about whether or not residents would like Neil Young to visit the area.

The survey is false and the link could contain malicious software.

“It is not our intention to send out text message survey’s because we don’t have the permission to do that,” says Stockey Centre events manager, Nicole Mullen. “It’s not just our patrons who are receiving this message, it seems to be most people with a 773 phone number.”

Residents are advised that if you do receive a suspicious text message with a link attached, not to click the link and delete the text message right away.
