The new year will be important for Seguin Township.
That’s according to Mayor Ann MacDiarmid who spoke to My Parry Sound Now.com about what residents can look forward to in the new year.
“We’ve got a brand new council so we are going to be reviewing our strategic plan, and then we must be looking at a review of our official plan, those will be our guideposts as we go forward for the next four years,” she said.
MacDiarmid said her priorities are bringing affordable high-speed internet throughout Seguin, extending the natural gas pipeline and putting the environment first. She says those items are what got her elected and will be at the forefront of “every council decision”.
“On the official plan, I think we need to look at making it easier to subdivide rural lots so that it’s easier for people to have affordable land and affordable housing, ” she added.
MacDiarmid is an advocate for the environment and wants businesses and residents to be mindful of climate change.
“We need all of us, individuals, corporations, families, and townships, to take care of our environment. Clean energy is what I’d like to see people using moving forward,” she said.
MacDiarmid added that she plans to spend Christmas with her grandchildren and wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday.
