First Handbags for Hope a huge success

The support staff at Esprit Place says its Handbags for Hope campaign  was a huge success.

It was a partnership with the Parry Sound Library.

Tahlia Holm, Supervisor at Esprit Place Family Resource Centre, says The library, Bearly Used Books and the generous community helped donate 160 handbags that were stuffed with supplies for women in need in our community.

“People from the community brought new or gently used handbags stuffed with hygiene items, gift cards, and food to The Public Library and Bearly Used Books. We were overwhelmed with the community response and we wanted to thank the library, Bearly Used Books and of course, all the community members who provided such wonderful support this Christmas season,” she said.

Holm also mentioned that they were overwhelmed with the response that not only were they able to serve their clients but had enough leftover to give to partner agencies who were able to give the handbags to more women in need.

This was the first year for the Handbags for Hope campaign, but Kayla Norrie, program coordinator with the Parry Sound Public Library, says she would love to do it again.
