OPP R.I.D.E. update for Parry Sound area

The West Parry Sound OPP has done 108 hours of Festive R.I.D.E. checks so far this year.

The Festive R.I.D.E campaign started November 23 and runs through to January 2.

During this year’s campaign, officers have issued two 3-day suspensions from roadside tests and 24 Highway Traffic Act charges including five seat-belt charges, four driver-suspend charges, two driving while disqualified charges, two Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges, seven substance charges, and three criminal charges.

The Festive R.I.D.E program is one of the OPP’s most important traffic safety initiatives.

All drivers are reminded to drive safe and stay sober.

The OPP says if you plan on drinking,  plan to not drive.
