All snowmobile trails in the district closed

All snowmobile trails in District 10 are closed until a cold snap happens.

Kim Kavanagh, Administrator for Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, District 10 says that trails could open as soon as groomers are able to access trails without damaging their equipment.

“The snow is actually starting to cover the rocks but as long as we get some snow, the groomers need a good base so that frost is in the ground which makes packing easier,” she said.

Cramadog Snowriders also reported that they have been informed that their land use agreement to use Pinegrove Lane has been revoked by the owners of the property over liability concerns.

This lane is located just outside of Dunchurch on trail 104D and is the only land access into Dunchurch from Ardbeg. The road also runs directly off of Farley’s Road which is also used as part of the trail.

Although the owners have revoked the access, an alternate passageway has been issued. There is also a new re-route trail in yellow which used to run on Pinegrove Road in red.

“Lets hope for some cold temperatures to get the ground frozen and swamps and ponds frozen up…then a nice snowfall so the groomers can get out and get packing to set up that nice solid base for grooming to begin,” Kavanagh added.

Everyone is recommended to stay off District 10 trails until further notice.
