Parry Sound appoints new Director of Finance

The Town of Parry Sound has a new Director of Finance and Treasurer. Her name is Stephanie Phillips.

Phillips is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has a BBA (Honours) specializing in accounting from Nipissing University.

“On behalf of Council, I’m very pleased to welcome Stephanie Phillips as our Director of Finance,” said Mayor McGarvey. “Mrs. Phillips brings over ten years’ experience in both the private and public sectors; with each move, she has assumed more senior roles and expanded her experience. We look forward to her joining the Senior Leadership Team and utilizing these skills to full capacity here at the Town.”

Phillips started her finance career in the northern Ontario mining industry, before moving into the municipal sector and eventually back to her roots in the Parry Sound area. She served as Manager of Revenue & Taxation in the Town of Gravenhurst and has worked as Treasurer in two local area municipalities.

Anticipating her move into the Town’s top finance role, Phillips says, “I am excited to be joining the breadth of talent and experience at the Town. As I assume a financial stewardship role in the community, I hope to provide value by maintaining a focus on continuous improvement, financial sustainability, and collaboration.”

She starts her new job on May 6th.
