Flood warning extended one more week for areas in Parry Sound region

A flood warning for an area that includes Henvey Inlet First Nation and the French River area, has been extended until June 28th.

Other areas affected by the flood warning include McConkey Township, Blair Township and Mowat.

Dry conditions are being predicted over the weekend with light rain arriving by Monday. With water levels hovering above the Maximum ‘Non-Damage’ Water Level of 196.22 even light rain events could cause problems.

The inflows into the lake have continued to decrease and discharge into the French River is being evaluated daily. The lake is still considered vulnerable to significant rainfall events.

Although the water levels and flows in the French River have continued to slowly decline over the past few weeks, they are still high. There is still flooding occurring where homes and other infrastructure in low lying areas are impacted.
