PARRY SOUND, ON-A meeting was held in Parry Sound today to address some of the concerns surrounding COVID-19.
The meeting included Mayor Jamie McGarvey and town staff, Dr. Jim Chirico the Medical Officer of Health for the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit, and staff from the West Parry Sound Health Centre.
Dr. Chirico said the risk for infection at this time is Low, and that people should be informed, prepared, and protected against Covid-19. Check your health before visiting vulnerable people such as those who have a weakened immune system, have a pre-existing condition, or are elderly.
During the meeting, it was mentioned that the health unit is currently looking into off-site screening for those who may have COVID-19. Screening procedures have not been confirmed as of yet
If you’re exhibiting mild symptoms and don’t need immediate medical attention, he is advising people to stay home.
