PARRY SOUND, ON-In order to take steps against the COVID-19 outbreak, the Townships of Carling and McKellar have declared a state of emergency.
Despite the lack of cases in the Parry Sound region, the townships have decided to close their offices to the public as a precaution.
Mayor of McKellar Peter Hopkins said that they will do everything they can to keep the residents and staff safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19. “We are encouraging everyone to follow the clear rules of distancing themselves from others, 14 days of isolation if returning from travel, washing hands and avoiding groups.”
Carling Mayor Mike Konoval added that they are proceeding with extreme caution to protect the health and wellbeing of their community members. “As our summer residents return to our community from other places that have known cases of the COVID-19 virus, we ask you to self-isolate.”
