The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit will remain in shutdown until February 16th and the Stay-at-Home Order will remain in effect.
However, the concerning uptick in cases and the outbreak declared yesterday means the health unit will be reevaluating closures on Tuesday. Â
The health unit’s top doctor Jim Chirico said January saw the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in the district to date.Â
The district’s third case of a variant of concern was also confirmed on Tuesday with the Lancelot apartments community outbreak declared yesterday feared to be of the variant. Â
Dr. Chirico says outdoor public skating rinks, skating and snowmobiling trails and tobogganing hills will remain closed because of the higher threat of transmission that comes with the variant.
