The province honoured two local Paramedics on Thursday with the Ontario Award for Paramedic Bravery.
Paramedics Patrick Dixon and Michael Michaelis, of the Parry Sound District Emergency Medical Services (PS-EMS), were presented the 2019 awards by PS-EMS Chief Frank May for their acts of outstanding bravery in the face of danger.  Â
On July 30th, 2018, Paramedics Dixon and Michaelis responded to a report of a man who was intoxicated and wandered away. Â
The team located the patient who eventually started to cross the cement railing of a bridge.
Dixon and Michaelis worked together to ensure the safety of the individual until police services took over.
The awards were presented to 13 Paramedics across the province by the Deputy Premier, Christine Elliot, in a virtual ceremony.Â
