Hundreds without power after weekend wind storm

UPDATED Nov. 7 3:00 p.m.: Power has been restored to the majority of customers, barring a few areas.

Around 280 Hydro customers are still without power in Parry Sound from a wind storm over the weekend.

Hydro One’s Tiziana Baccega-Rosa says crews continue to repair power lines, damaged by high winds and fallen tree branches.

“We understand how difficult it is to be without power and thank our customers for their patience as crews continue to work tirelessly to get the lights back on,” says Baccega-Rosa in an email.

She adds that although the bulk of residents have the lights back on, more outages are possible as strong winds are expected to continue into Monday evening.

In the meantime, Hydro One asks residents to stay back at least 10 metres from any downed lines, even if they do not appear to be live, and report them to both 911 and Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.
