The Canadian Coast Guard is holding an environmental response exercise in Parry Sound on Thursday (Aug 17).
CCG officials say the exercise will simulate a vessel running aground near Thunder Creek, and an ensuing diesel spill into surrounding waters.
Members of the Coast Guard will be using a range of equipment and techniques to contain, recover, and dispose of all pollutants.
The CCG will be deploying the icebreaker CCGS Samuel Risley, navigation aids ship the CCGS Cove Isle, a helicopter, and multiple small response vessels.
Officials say there is no real emergency or danger to the public, and no substances will be released into the water during the exercise.
