Parry Sound Snowfest is bringing a jam-packed slate of events to town this Family Day weekend.
An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast hosted by the Parry Sound High School Band will kick off Saturday’s schedule , which will include a spin cycle variety show in the afternoon.
“We are really excited. I have been trying to figure out the best way to describe the spin cycle show. The best I can do is that it is a comedy, circusy act,” said Jayme Young, Community Recreation Coordinator for the town. “It’s going to be great. Kids will love it.”
Sunday will be highlighted by the return of The Great Parry Sound Toboggan Races.
“I cannot wait to see the cardboard toboggans that everybody comes up with this year. They were such a hit last year,” said Young.
There are three racing categories including regular toboggan, cardboard toboggan and anything but a toboggan.
“That could be anything under the sun except for a toboggan. Think snow shovels, serving plates, garbage bags, anything that isn’t a toboggan,” added Young.
Registration is 2 p.m. with the races following at 3 p.m.
Mayor Jamie McGarvey is hosting a free barbecue and skate and the Bobby Orr Community Centre on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hamburgers, hot dogs, hot chocolate and timbits will be available, and board games will be out for use in the Hart Trophy Room.
