Nine months after passing a bylaw introducing development charges, Parry Sound council is considering a deferral policy.
The draft policy, which was slated to be in front of council Feb. 20, has been pushed to the March 5 meeting. The policy places an emphasis on encouraging high density development, in line with the Town’s official plan.
If approved, projects considered high density, like apartment buildings, row housing, stacked townhouses and others, would be eligible to have development charges deferred for up to two years.
Projects where development charges exceed 75 thousand dollars would also be eligible for a two-year deferral.
Residents now have until Feb. 29 to provide comments to the town regarding the proposed policy. Details can be found at parrysound.ca.
