Parry Sound is in the running to be named the next Kraft Hockeyville.
The Bobby Orr Community Centre is among hundreds of arenas across the country vying for $250,000 in arena upgrades and the right to host an NHL pre-season game.
The Parry Sound Shamrocks Hockey Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary season, a fact that was highlighted in various submission supporting the town’s nomination.
Hockeyville entries are currently being judged. The top four communities will be announced on March 9.
The winner will be announced on March 30, the same day as Hockey Day in Parry Sound.
