Province providing nearly $800,000 in funding to long-term care homes across Parry Sound-Muskoka

Six long-term care homes across the riding are getting some new equipment thanks to the province.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Graydon Smith announced on June 25 that nearly $800,000 will help purchase items like IV and bariatric equipment, bladder scanners, electrocardiograms and more.
The lion’s share of the funding is going to Belvedere Heights and Lakeland Long Term Care in Parry Sound, which are both receiving over $300,000 each.
A total of $786,453 will be divvyed up as follows:
  • Belvedere Heights (Parry Sound) – $336,291
  • Lakeland Long Term Care (Parry Sound) – $325,422
  • Muskoka Shores Community (Gravenhurst) – $48,571
  • Muskoka Landing (Huntsville) – $34,990
  • The Pines (Bracebridge) – $28,334
  • Fairvern (Huntsville) – $12,846
Officials say the equipment will help connect residents with complex needs like dementia, to the right care in the right place, all while reducing avoidable emergency department visits and hospital stays.
“Our long-term care homes play a key role in helping residents stay in the community they grew up in,” said Smith.  “I’m thankful that our government is making smart and strategic investments in these facilities so that residents get the support they need to stay close to family and friends.”
