A local search and rescue organization is holding a ‘Boot Drive’ fundraiser this Saturday.
Members of Bimaajitoon Search and Rescue will be at both Parry Sound Tim Horton’s – 13 Bowes Street and 1 Mall Drive – collecting cash donations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Treasurer Alexander Gorn Juarez says funds raised will help the volunteer organization purchase needed equipment.
“We’re looking at purchasing some safety helmets, walkie talkies, flashlights, as well as some safety vests,” said Juarez. “We want to make sure that we have funds to support our team with food and water, especially if a search goes longer than a day. We really want to make sure we have all the supplies needed so we can keep searching for anyone who is lost and needs our help.”
The local organization, which is based out of Carling and serves the entire Parry Sound District, helps the OPP when called upon.
