The Canada Day long weekend was a busy one for local police.
West Parry Sound OPP say they responded to 152 incidents over the three days, including six collisions and four assaults.
Officers also investigated 12 traffic complaints, eight marine complaints and seven noise complaints.
Province-wide, the OPP say 17,889 charges were laid during their enforcement and education campaign – from June 21 to July 1. Among the charges laid were:
- 8,421 speeding
- 1,287 seatbelt related
- 447 impaired
- 224 stunt driving
- 173 distracted driving
- 96 lifejacket related
The OPP says one person lost their life in a boating accident over the long weekend.
