The West Parry Sound Health Centre is once again partnering with 103.3 Moose FM for an annual radiothon.
Friday, July 19 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., 103.3 Moose FM will be raising awareness and funds for the WPSHC Foundation.
According to Foundation CEO Deborah Loosemore, events like the radiothon are vital because the government does not provide the hospital any funding to purchase new equipment.
“All of the fundraisers that we do here in Parry Sound buy equipment that stays here in the hospital, so that everyone in Parry Sound and everyone that needs emergency care can benefit,” said Loosemore.
This year the Foundation hopes to raise enough funds to purchase a new bone mineral density machine.
“It is a special x-ray machine that measures the density in our bones. Knowing that you have a low bone density mass or that you are heading into osteoporosis means that you can take steps to avoid fractures and injuries that may really have an effect on how you live your life,” she said.
The 12-hour fundraising event will include special programming, interviews with hospital staff, and more.
