A small wildland fire on Parry Island was quickly extinguished by firefighters on July 24.
Officials say the fire, about a third of an acre in size, occurred one kilometers south of Three Mile Lake. It was put out Wednesday evening around 5:15 p.m.
Ministry of Natural Resources Fire Information Officer Alison Lake says this fire season is vastly different from last years.
“We have had a lot more rain and cool temperatures. It seems like we are in a bit of a pattern of a couple of nice days of weather and then some rain,” said Lake.

To date, there have been 174 wildfires in Ontario this season. Last year at this time, there had been 481.
Lake says the province is well below its year-to-date 10-year average of 420 wildfires.
