Early site work at 44 Joseph Street, the future home of the West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre, should be complete by the end of the month.
That’s according to board chair Donald Sanderson, who says cement will start to be poured, and iron rebar erected, in the coming months.
“Things are moving quickly,” said Sanderson. “We are hoping by the end of August, what we’ve termed as the early works construction will be completed… and then you will start to see the physical structure start to go up.”
Sanderson says he is excited to see the project moving forward as the pool will bring a variety of benefits to the community.
“Having a facility where we can exercise, socialize and learn is something that will help us attract individuals and families to West Parry Sound, so that when we need programs and services, like health care, we are more likely to be able to provide those services,” he said. “Whether one uses the pool or not, there is a community building element to this that we will all benefit from.”
According to officials, the recreation and cultural center is expected to be complete by next winter.
