The complete reconstruction of Victoria Avenue from Waubeek to Ethel streets started August 19.
Parry Sound officials say the work involves underground infrastructure improvements, including the installation of new storm and waste water pipes. Some of the pipes under the road are cross-connected, which results in rain water entering the sanitary sewers and travelling to the sewage treatment plant every time it rains. The reconstruction project will see the installation of separate pipes, which will eliminate this issue.
Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution when traveling around the construction site. Occasional lane closures and sidewalk detours are expected.
Officials says the construction project is expected to be completed by November 15.
