A new ready-mix concrete plant has opened in Parry Sound.
The Sarjeant Co. Ltd. held the grand opening for its new facility, located at 2 Cochrane Lake Road, on Aug. 28.
According to officials, the plant will increase Sarjeant’s ready-mix concrete production capacity to meet growing needs and ensure a reliable source of high-quality concrete is available for local construction projects.
A $400,000 government grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation helped pay for the facility.
“The aggregate industry directly employs 7,600 Ontarians and supports 357,000 jobs, and we know that targeted investments like these will help grow and support the provinces construction sector,” said then-Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller during a 2022 funding announcement.
At the grand opening event, the company donated $50,000 to the West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre’s ‘Let’s Make a Splash’ fundraising campaign.
The campaign runs until Nov. 24. All donations, up to $100,000, will be matched by an anonymous donor.
