The province is investing nearly $12 million across Parry Sound and Muskoka to help “renew and rehabilitate critical infrastructure in local municipalities”.
Officials say it’ll be delivered through the 2025 Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF), which is part of the government’s $190 billion capital plan to build and expand more homes, highways, hospitals, and more.
“Our government is making smart and strategic investments that improve people’s lives. By supporting our municipalities with millions of dollars in infrastructure funding, we’re ensuring that important community infrastructure is built and maintained,” said MPP Graydon Smith. “This $12 million will help municipalities across Parry Sound-Muskoka address their infrastructure needs to better serve their residents. I’m thrilled to see that the overall OCIF investment into the riding has increased from last year by over $500,000.”
According to the province, the OCIF provides funding for local infrastructure projects in municipalities with populations under 100,000, rural and northern municipalities, and for Local Services Boards that own water or wastewater systems. Funding allocations are based on a formula that accounts for the different needs and economic conditions of each community.
