Town of Parry Sound staff are encouraging students to use designated crosswalks.
At a council meeting on Nov. 19, concerns were raised about students use of the crosswalks at the intersection of Isabella and Gibson streets.
Mike Kearns, director of public works, says he witnessed kids crossing the intersection diagonally, which is both illegal and unsafe.
“We would certainly encourage any parents, or guardians, or teachers, to encourage their students to use the crosswalks as intended. They are there for their safety, as well as the drivers safety,” he said.
Kearns says town staff will approach local schools and the OPP in order to get the message out.
