Nearly $400,000 raised for new Parry Sound pool project

Nearly $400,000 was raised during the Let’s Make a Splash Fundraising campaign benefitting the West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre.

Officials say the six-month long fundraiser, which ended Sunday, saw the community raise $196 thousand dollars.

An anonymous donor had initially committed to matching up to $100 thousand dollars…but upped this contribution to $190 thousand, bringing the total raised to $386 thousand dollars.

Officials say, although this campaign is complete, fundraising will continue.

The fundraising committee has a goal of raising $5 million in capital and another $5 million in an endowment over the next five years.

The anonymous donor will reveal himself live, on-air Nov. 29 at 8 a.m. on 103.3 Moose FM with the hope of encouraging another matching campaign.
