The Town of Parry Sound ranked ninth on U-Haul’s 2024 Canadian Growth Index, which analyzed one-way customer transactions during the past year.
According to the yearly report, U-Haul customers coming to Parry Sound accounted for 59% of one-way traffic into the market. Arrivals into town rose 23%, while departures rose 9%.
“Parry Sound has seen increased popularity because of its great cost of living and the fact that it is a very relaxing area to live,” said Wayne Curtis, U-Haul Company of Central Ontario president. “You have all of the big stores that a metro would have without all of the hustle and bustle that a big city brings.”
U-Haul ranks growth cities by each city’s net gain or loss of one-way equipment from customer transactions in a calendar year.
This marks Parry Sound’s first appearance on the top 25 list since 2017.
