Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation expanding into Muskoka

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation is being expanded to include the District of Muskoka.

With the expansion comes a $30 million dollar investment from the province over the next three years, which will increase the NOHFC’s annual budget to $110 million dollars.

Currently, for the NOHFC, Northern Ontario is defined as all areas north of, and including, the Districts of Parry Sound and Nipissing. That region with now include the District of Muskoka.

Local MPP Graydon Smith says he’s thrilled Muskoka’s joining the NOHFC’s service area, saying it’s long been asked for by local businesses, community organizations and local governments.

“This is a huge moment that unifies the region when it comes to economic development funding and opportunities,” said Smith. “With Muskoka now onboard, and the entire NOHFC area receiving more dollars to work with, amazing things will follow in Parry Sound–Muskoka and Northern Ontario.”

Since June 2018, the NOHFC has invested more than $864 million in 7,028 projects across Northern Ontario.
