Paddling Film Festival to once again support pool project

White Squall’s annual International Paddling Film Festival and silent auction fundraiser will once again be supporting the West Parry Sound Recreation and Cultural Centre project.

Tim Dyer, co-owner of the outdoor store and paddling center, is thrilled to see the progress being made on the pool building.

“It’s time has come. It’s here,” he said. “It is coming along wonderfully, which we are all excited about. It is something Parry Sound has waited 40-plus years for.”

A silent auction featuring a well over 100 items that have been donated by the community is live online. Some of the items available include: a kayak, life jackets, sleeping bags, locally handcrafted items, and more. It will run until March 22 – the night of the film festival. Final bids can be made in person at the Stockey Centre.

The festival will consist of cold beer, gourmet popcorn, home-baked goods, a curated paddling film and intermission featuring Whiskey Jack.

Last year’s festival sold out and raised more than $22,000.
