5-storey, 80-unit apartment building pitched to Parry Sound council

A new 5-story, 80-unit apartment building has been proposed in Parry Sound.

The project, which was pitched to council at a meeting on March 18, would be located on a 1.6-acre vacant parcel of land at 12 and 14 Joseph Street, north of Parry Sound High School. A portion of the lot is currently being used as a turnaround area for school buses.

The developer say 12 of the 80 units (15%) would be affordable housing, as defined by the the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Commission.

Officials say multiple meetings between the developer and town staff have occurred. A site plan is currently being developed.

CORRECTION: We erroneously said the building would be 50-storeys this morning. That is incorrect. The proposed 80-unit apartment building is 5-storeys or just over 55-feet tall. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
