Local officials are encouraging rural residents across the Parry Sound District to ensure they are prepared for a possible ice storm that is expected to hit the region this weekend.
Snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain are expected March 28 to 31. The Weather Network is forecasting 10-15 cm of snow and 5 to 10 mm of ice accretion. Power outages are possible, and roads could become icy and dangerous.
Seguin Township officials are encouraging residents to have emergency kits on hand with enough essential supplies for 72 hours without service and power. The kits should include non-perishable food, water, medicine, flashlights and batteries, among other things.
Township of Carling officials are suggesting residents test their generators to ensure they are in working condition, never use unsafe devices to heat your home and monitor weather conditions.
