20-year-old charged with attempted murder

A 20-year-old from Henvey Inlet First Nation has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Police say the man was arrested and charged on April 1, in connection to an on-going shooting investigation in Parry Sound.

On June 15, 2023, West Parry Sound OPP responded to a report of an individual in hospital with injuries sustained following an altercation at a local hotel.

Police say two people have previously been charged in connection to the investigation.

The 20-year-old is facing numerous charges including: attempted murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a restricted firearm, disguise with intent and aggravated assault.

He remains in custody and is slated to appear in Parry Sound court on April 11.
