Local country music artists a finalist in CCMA competition

Parry Sound country music artists Sully Burrows has advanced.

The local musician is one of three finalists in the 2025 Top of the Country competition hosted by the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA), in partnership with SiriusXM Canada.

Burrows, who graduated from Rosseau Lake College last year, went head-to-head with eight semi-finalists in a round of online voting. His original track, ‘Rally Around’, was popular enough for him to move on.

“This year’s voting period was a fantastic show of support for Canadian country music, and the caliber of talent only amplified this sense of national pride, driving more fans to vote,” said Michelle Mearns, senior vice-president of programming and operations with SiriusXM Canada.

“This competition is a true testament to our shared commitment to homegrown music from coast to coast.”

Burrows has earned himself exclusive mentorship opportunities. He will also perform at major live events across the country, culminating at Country Music Week in September.

The winner of the competition will be awarded $25,000. Each runner-up will take home $10,000.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Burrows gradated Parry Sound High School. He graduated Rosseau Lake College.
