Community Support Services celebrates Volunteer Week

It’s National Volunteer Week – businesses and organizations throughout the Parry Sound Area are highlighting the tremendous role volunteers play in the community.
Dawn Rouse, navigator with the West Parry Sound District Community Support Services, says all of the programs they are able to provide are reliant on volunteers.
“Our volunteers are everything to us. We have volunteer drivers who deliver Meals on Wheels, take clients to medical appointments, shopping and on other personal errands,” said Rouse. “We just have a myriad of things that are accomplished by our volunteers. If we didn’t have volunteers, we would not be able to run our services.”
Rouse says, from April 2024 to March 2025, volunteers provided more than 9,500 hours of their time, delivering over 10,700 meals, and drove nearly 375,000 kilometers.
